The owner’s story
Barry Wirt, owner of Triton Building Group, LLC and local to the Corpus Christi area since 2017, has been building professionally since 1996.
Originally from Michigan, Barry started working in the trades at age 16. Working under his mentors, he quickly excelled as a foreman. By the age of 19, the men that once trained Barry worked under him as he led his first complete home-building project.
During Barry’s years in Michigan, he led the way in building and remodeling numerous homes, apartments, condos, and hotels.
In 2003, he was hired to lead the framing crews of an Olive Garden restaurant new build in Santa Fe, NM. Liking the Southern region, he stayed in the New Mexico area where he learned the art of building custom cabinets at a local cabinet shop. Barry’s love and passion for custom building drove him to expand upon his skillset in cabin building where he learned timber frame building techniques.
Armed with the knowledge and experience gained, he left Santa Fe in 2006 and moved to Austin where he spent seven years working in Westlake, Terrytown, and Steiner Ranch doing high-end custom remodeling projects as a project manager for Audino Construction and Melde Specialties.
For family reasons, Barry left Texas and returned to Michigan in 2013 where he continued his building career and acquired his state-building license, and founded Wirt’s Custom Built Homes, Inc.
During his time in Michigan his main focus of work was kitchen and bath remodeling. In 2017, when Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast, Barry was moved to return to Texas to help those impacted by the devastation, and thus began his journey in the coastal bend area.
Barry spent the next three years following his passion and fighting for homeowners and their rights against TWIA and various mortgage companies, cutting through red tape so clients could collect the full value of their losses and begin rebuilding their homes and lives.
From 2021 to 2022, Barry took a reprieve from home building and remodeling and was hired to help with the construction of the new steel mill in the coastal bend area.
In mid-2022, Barry reemerged into the construction market and re-branded from Wirt’s Custom Built Homes, Inc. to Triton Building Group, LLC, and now works in both the residential and commercial markets throughout the Corpus Christi area.
